Andy Kohut is in his sixth season on the basketball staff at The University of Tulsa, but his second as an assistant coach.
Kohut spent his first four seasons with the Golden Hurricane as the Director of Basketball Operations. He has been a part of four 20-win seasons, including two years with 25 wins, a CBI Championship in 2008 and NIT appearances in each of the last two campaigns.
He was appointed to the position of director of basketball operations on April 26, 2005. Kohut was instrumental in the coordination and implementation of the XOS Coaching, Recruiting and Scouting Technology System for the Golden Hurricane Basketball program.
Before coming to Tulsa, Kohut spent the two years at Michigan State as a graduate manager. His responsibilities included opponent scouting and digital video editing. Kohut also assisted with the coordination of Tom Izzo's Summer Basketball Camps at Michigan State.
In his two seasons at Michigan State, the Spartans posted a 40-18 overall record and was 25-7 in the Big 10 Conference, while finishing in second-place both years. MSU advanced to the 2005 Final Four.
A 2003 graduate of Purdue University, Kohut was a manager for the Boilermakers basketball team for three seasons. During his senior season, he coordinated a team of nine managers. Kohut was involved in opponent video breakdown, statistical work, assisted with writing scouting reports and practice coordination, as well as planning and preparation for summer camps.
Kohut earned his bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering in 2003 from Purdue, and received his master's degree in sports administration from Michigan State in May 2005.
