HIGH SCHOOL - Was a three-year letterman and two-year starter at Lees Summit (Mo.) West High School . . . averaged 17.3 points, 7.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 3.2 steals as a senior . . . led his team to a 27-4 record and to the state of Missouri's Class 5 Final Four, only to lose in the semifinals to eventual state champion McCluer North High School . . . was named the Suburban Mid-6 Conference Player of the Year and the Kansas City Star's Metro Player of the Year in his senior season . . . was one of five finalists for the DiRenna Award, which is presented to the top player in the Kansas City-metro area . . . was also selected as the 610 Radio Sports Star of the Year in 2012 as well . . . earned first-team all-state accolades as a senior and was a two-time all-district and all-conference selection . . . also garnered all-tournament team merits at the Ray-Peck Tournament, Culver's Tournament and the William Jewell Holiday Tournament, where he earned MVP honors for two straight years . . . set the single-season steals record at Lees Summit West with 100 steals as a senior . . . finished his career second on the school's career scoring, steals and blocked shots lists, as well as fourth in assists and fifth in rebounding . . . also lettered three years in football, where he was a first-team all-state receiver . . . high school basketball coach was Michael Schieber.
