Tulsa Postgame Quotes vs. Tulane
Jan. 10, 2014
TULSA HEAD COACH Danny Manning
When asked if the performance against Tulane was the best 40 minutes the team has played this year "No, it is not. When you shoot the ball well it makes up for a multitude of sins. For me, when I look at the stat sheet, they shot 48% from the field. You're not going to beat a lot of teams if they shoot 48% from the field in your own building. Tonight we shot 57% and that covers up a lot of things defensively for us. But, defensively we have to do a much better job than 48% field goal percentage defense."
On sophomore forward D'Andre Wright's growing confidence "D'Andre's a talented basketball player. We just want him to go out there and we want him to be free. Remember to just go play. Be aggressive in your thoughts and what you're doing offensively, play our principles defensively and we'll see what happens. When he plays and he doesn't put a lot of pressure on himself and he just goes out there and enjoys the game he can be very affective. We tell him that all the time. Just go play hard and we'll go from there."
On senior guard Tim Peete's multifaceted play and leadership "Tim has been really solid all year long. He's been better than solid. He's our jack-of-all-trades. He plays inside. He plays outside. You know he plays all of the perimeter spots. He's been so solid and so valuable to our team day in and day out and then he has a huge presence in our locker room as well."
On Shaquille Harrison's play (season-high points and 6:1 turnover ratio)
"Shaq played well. He moved the ball for us. He got into the paint. He made shots. We can't hang our hat on shooting like this every game. It'd be nice, but I don't know if we can shoot 57%. Tonight was one of those games where it was working for us. Let's enjoy it and we have to get ready for the next one."
