STILLWATER, Okla. (AP) -- Byron Eaton scored 26 points and had seven assists in leading Oklahoma State to a 91-73 victory over Tulsa on Thursday night. Tulsa's Ben Uzoh was the team-leader for the Hurricane with 20 points and seven rebounds in the losing effort. The Cowboys improved to 3-0 on the season, while Tulsa dropped to 1-1 going into Sunday's 3:00 pm home game against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. OSU jumped out to a 17-11 lead with 12:18 left in the first half, and went on a 20-3 run in the next seven minutes to take a 23-point advantage, 37-14, before Bishop Wheatley coneccted on two free throws for the Hurricane. The Cowboys built its first-half lead to 28 points and settled for a 27-point halftime lead at 54-28. The second half was quite different for the Hurricane. After turning the ball over 16 times in the first 20 minutes, Tulsa only had three second-half turnovers. Tulsa shot 54.8 percent after intermission while out-scoring the Cowboys 45-37. Tulsa came out and scored 12 points in the first three minutes of the second half, compared to two points in the first three minutes of the first-half. A 3-point field goal by Glenn Andrews with 10:35 to play cut Oklahoma State's lead to 13, but Eaton countered with a 3-point play and an assist on a Thomas dunk that quickly pushed the lead back to 18. Andrews finished with 11 for the Hurricane, while Ray Reese and Steven Idlet came off the bench to score 9 and 8 points, respecitvely. As it was in the first game, Tulsa's free throw shooting was a horrendous 48-percent, as Tulsa missed 13 free throws in the 18-point loss. Tulsa ended the game by shooting 50-percent from the field and 43-percent from three-point range.
