Tulsa's Comeback Bid Falls Short Against Nebraska 74-70

Las Vegas, Nev. -- Ben Uzoh scored a game-high 23 points but it was not enough as Tulsa's comeback fell short as Nebraska held on for a 74-70 victory at the Orleans Arena. Nebraska was led by Eshaunte Jones' 12 points, including three huge three-pointers in the second half.
Tulsa fell to 9-2 on the season, while Nebraska improved to 8-2.
After a 31-31 halftime tie, the Cornhuskers went on an 13-4 run in the first four minutes of the second half to take a 44-35 lead with 16:26 in the second half. Nebraska increased its lead to double digits and had its biggest lead of 13 points, 50-37, at the 14:36 mark.
The Hurricane cut it to three points, 57-54, on a Justin Hurtt three-pointer with 6:07 left in the game, and an Uzoh three-pointer cut it to two points at 61-59 with 4:27 on the clock. The Huskers increased its lead to four points on a Lance Jeter jumper, while Jones made it a seven-point lead at 66-59 with 3:00 left.
NU's Brandon Richardson connected on six-of-six free throws in the final 0:15 to maintain the lead. With 0:02 left on the clock Donte Medder's three-pointer cut the Nebraska lead to two points, 72-70, but Richardson connected on his final two free throws to give the Huskers the final margin of victory.
Tulsa will play Nevada tomorrow in the consolation game at 7:00 pm (CT). Nevada dropped a 110-104 decision against BYU in the first game of the day.
