TULSA, Okla. - The Tulsa men's basketball team tips off the new year when it returns to the friendly confines of the Donald W. Reynolds Center to play host to Cal State Fullerton at noon Saturday.

This is the final non-conference game for the Golden Hurricane (4-9), which returns to its home court after two straight road games. TU looks to extend a three-game home winning streak and rebound from a pair of road losses at Big 12 and ACC foes. The Titans enter the game with a 5-8 record, and have won three of their last five games.

The Hurricane men's game is the first of a TU Basketball doubleheader Saturday. The Tulsa women's team plays host to Valparaiso following the conclusion of the men's contest. Tipoff is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.

Tickets for the games are available by visiting the TU Athletics Ticket Office in the Reynolds Center, by calling 918-631-GoTU (4688), or online at www.TulsaHurricane.com. The game will be broadcast on the Hurricane Radio Network, KRMG AM 740/102.3 FM in Tulsa, and network affiliates.

This is the fifth meeting between Tulsa and Cal State Fullerton. Tulsa leads the series, 3-1. The Golden Hurricane has won all three games on its home floor, including the last contest between the two teams on Nov. 28, 1990, an 89-63 TU victory in Tulsa. The Titans won 84-58 in Fullerton, Calif., in 1989. The Hurricane also won at home 93-84 in 1968 and 99-75 in 1971. Tulsa has averaged 93.6 points in its three wins and has a 19.6 winning margin in those games.

Sophomore guard James Woodard leads Tulsa in scoring and rebounding, averaging 14.6 points and 6.2 rebounds per game. Sophomore forward Rashad Smith scores 12.4 points with 5.4 rebounds per game. Shaquille Harrison averages 9.4 points and 3.5 assists per contest. Senior guard Pat Swilling Jr. averages 8.9 points per contest. Sophomore forward D'Andre Wright averages 6.8 points, sophomore guard Rashad Ray scores 4.1 points with 2.2 assists and Lew Evans scores 5.2 points per outing.



The Golden Hurricane averages 72.2 points and 34.5 rebounds per game, shooting .426 from the field. Hurricane opponents average 75.8 points and 37.7 rebounds, while shooting .437 from the field.

Cal State Fullerton is led by Michael Williams, who averages 14.8 points, 3.8 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game. Alex Harris scored 12.6 points, Steve McClellan leads the team with 5.2 rebounds per contest, and Sheldon Blackwell averages 2.7 assists per outing. The Titans average 67.3 points and 35.2 rebounds per game, shooting .433 from the field. CSUF opponents average 69.8 points and 35.6 rebounds per game, while shooting .432 from the field.
