HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - The Tulsa basketball team is hitting the country roads of West Virginia to face off in a Conference USA clash against Marshall at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Cam Henderson Center.

The Golden Hurricane (9-6, 1-0 C-USA) is playing its sixth road contest in its last seven outings, and its second straight C-USA road game to open the league schedule. TU opened league play with a 48-47 win at SMU on Sunday. The Thundering Herd, meanwhile, enters its first C-USA game with a 7-8 record. The game will be broadcast on KRMG AM 740/102.3 FM in Tulsa, and on www.TulsaHurricane.com.

The Golden Hurricane averages 65.9 points and 37.0 rebounds per game, and shoots 44 percent from the field, 32 percent from three-point range and 66 percent from the free throw line. TU allows 63.3 points and 33.0 rebounds per contest, as well as a .399 field goal percentage and a .307 three-point percentage.

Freshman guard James Woodard leads the active Golden Hurricane players in scoring, averaging 13.7 points, with 6.3 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game. Senior guard Scottie Haralson averages 9.8 points, 3.4 rebounds and 2.3 three-pointers per contest. Junior guard Pat Swilling, Jr., averages 10.9 points in his eight games played, and freshman guard Rashad Ray averages 6.8 points. Senior forward Kauri Black puts up 6.6 points and 5.1 rebounds per contest.

This is the 14th meeting between Tulsa and Marshall. Tulsa leads the series 8-5. All of the meetings have come since both schools have been members of Conference USA. Marshall defeated Tulsa in the quarterfinals of the 2012 C-USA Tournament in a thrilling, 105-100, triple overtime contest. The Golden Hurricane defeated the Thundering Herd, 79-70, in the regular season meeting last year in Tulsa. The schools alternated victories in the first four matchups, Tulsa won four in a row between 2008 and 2010, and the schools have alternated victories since. Marshall has won each of the last two meetings in Huntington, 64-58 in 2010, and, 80-64 in 2011. Marshall leads the series in Huntington, 4-1.
