CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Tulsa men's basketball team is on the road for the first time in Conference USA play this season, as it meets Charlotte at 6 p.m. CT Thursday at Halton Arena.

The Golden Hurricane (7-9, 2-0 C-USA) has won three in a row overall, and is seeking its first road victory of the season. The 49ers (10-5, 1-1 C-USA) have won two of their last three games, and are 5-2 at home this season. The game will be broadcast on the Hurricane Radio Network, KRMG AM 740/102.3 FM in Tulsa, and network affiliates.

Tulsa Crushes Charlotte By 15
Justin Hurtt hit a career-high five 3-pointers and scored 15 points to lead Tulsa to a 65-50 victory over Charlotte on Saturday.

This will be the fourth-ever meeting between Tulsa and Charlotte, but the first as conference mates. TU leads the series 3-0. The Golden Hurricane won the last meeting 65-50 in 2009, in Charlotte. TU also defeated the 49ers in 2007, 75-63, in Tulsa. The Hurricane won the first meeting 75-61 in 1999, a neutral-site game in Bayamon, Puerto Rico. Tulsa has won the three games by an average of 10.3 points.


Sophomore guard James Woodard leads Tulsa in scoring and rebounding, averaging 14.4 points and 6.0 rebounds per game. Sophomore forward Rashad Smith scores 12.4 points with 5.4 rebounds per game. Shaquille Harrison averages 10.3 points and 3.6 assists per contest. Senior guard Pat Swilling Jr. averages 8.6 points per contest. Sophomore forward D'Andre Wright averages 8.0 points, sophomore guard Rashad Ray scores 4.6 points with 2.5 assists and Lew Evans scores 5.8 points per outing.

The Golden Hurricane averages 74.0 points and 34.2 rebounds per game, shooting .438 from the field, including .356 from 3-point territory. Hurricane opponents average 74.1 points and 36.6 rebounds, while shooting .435 from the field.

Shawn Lester leads Charlotte with 12.8 points per game - the highest among five players who average double figures for the 49ers. Willie Clayton scores 11.9 points and leads the team with 9.1 rebounds per contest, while Pierria Henry leads the team with 5.7 assist and 2.2 steals per outing, and adds 11.6 points and 5.0 rebounds. Terrence Williams and Mike Thorne Jr. average 11.2 and 10.5 points per game, respectively, and Thorne adds 7.5 rebounds per contest.

The 49ers average 75.3 points and 39.3 rebounds per game, shooting .450 from the field and .381 from 3-point range. Charlotte opponents average 72.9 points and 34.6 rebounds per game, shooting .428 from the field and .314 from 3-point territory.

Thursday's game is the first of two consecutive road contests for the Hurricane, as TU play at Marshall Saturday. That game will tipoff at 11 a.m. and be televised by CBS Sports Network.
