Tulsa Faces UTEP Tonight

TULSA, Okla. - The Tulsa basketball team plays host to Conference USA rival UTEP at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Donald W. Reynolds Center. The Golden Hurricane (10-7, 2-1 C-USA) is coming off a 64-51 win over Rice on Saturday, and has won three of its last four games, while the Miners (9-6, 2-0 C-USA) defeated Marshall, 74-63, on Saturday, and have won six of their last seven contests. The game will be broadcast on KRMG AM 740/102.3 FM in Tulsa, and on www.TulsaHurricane.com.

The Golden Hurricane averages 65.5 points and 36.6 rebounds per game, and shoots 44 percent from the field, 31 percent from three-point range and 67 percent from the free throw line. TU allows 63.5 points and 33.1 rebounds per contest, as well as a .399 field goal percentage and a .326 three-point percentage. This is the 46th meeting between Tulsa and UTEP. Tulsa leads the series 28-17. The schools have split the last two season series, with the home team winning each time. The Golden Hurricane won in Tulsa last season, 59-48, while UTEP won in El Paso, 64-55. TU also won at home in 2011, 69-68, while the Miners won in El Paso, 69-59, and also took a 66-54 win in the C-USA Tournament. Tulsa's home win in 2011 broke a four-game win streak by UTEP. The Hurricane had previously won four straight in the series. UTEP holds a slight, 9-8, advantage in the series since both schools joined Conference USA in 2005-06. Tulsa's average victory margin since 2006 is 9.8 points, while UTEP's victory margin is 9.1 points. The Hurricane is 16-5 all-time at home against the Miners.
