TULSA, Okla. - Tulsa will face off against Southern Miss in a big Conference USA matchup at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Donald W. Reynolds Center. Fans are encouraged to wear blue to the game for Blue Cross/Blue Shield Day.

The Hurricane is 12-8 overall and 4-2 in C-USA play, while Southern Miss comes in at 16-4 overall and 5-0 in league play, atop the conference standings. TU defeated Houston on the road Wednesday, 87-72, and has won five of its last seven games, including its last five home contests. Southern Miss, meanwhile carries an eight-game winning streak, including a 102-46 home win over Marshall on Wednesday. The game will be broadcast on KRMG AM 740/102.3 FM in Tulsa, and on www.TulsaHurricane.com.

Second-Half Comeback Not Enough as Tulsa Falls at Southern Miss, 77-69
Tulsa erased a 15-point second-half deficit, but it was not enough as the Golden Hurricane fell at Southern Miss in overtime, 77-69, Wednesday evening at Reed Green Coliseum.

TU memorabilia will be on display in the west concourse of the Reynolds Center through halftime of the game. Some items that can be viewed include uniforms, photographs, football and basketball cards, bowl programs and media guides about the great Golden Hurricane teams of the past.

The series between Tulsa and Southern Miss has been historically close. In the 10 previous meetings, nine games have been decided by more than 10 points. The other nine contests have been decided by an average of 6.7 points. Tulsa leads the series, 6-4, and its 15-point, 78-63, win in 2008 was the only double-digit victory. The Golden Eagles won last year's meeting, 77-69, in overtime in Hattiesburg, and the Hurricane holds a 5-1 advantage over USM in Tulsa.

Freshman guard James Woodard leads the active Golden Hurricane players in scoring, averaging 13.2 points, with 5.8 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game. Senior guard Scottie Haralson averages 9.6 points and 3.7 rebounds per contest. Junior guard Pat Swilling, Jr., averages 10.2 points, and freshman guard Rashad Ray averages 6.8 points. Senior forward Kauri Black puts up 6.8 points and 5.2 rebounds per contest.



The Golden Hurricane averages 65.8 points and 36.5 rebounds per game, and shoots 44 percent from the field, 33 percent from three-point range and 67 percent from the free throw line. TU allows 63.5 points and 33.0 rebounds per contest, as well as a .397 field goal percentage and a .319 three-point percentage.

Southern Miss leads C-USA in scoring margin (+17.2 points per game) and in scoring defense (57.5 ppg), while ranking third in scoring offense (74.7 ppg). The Golden Eagles also lead the league in field goal percentage defense (.386), three-point percentage (.394) and three-point percentage defense (.296), and rank second in field goal percentage (.491). USM averages 35.0 rebounds and allows a league-low 28.8 rebounds to top C-USA in rebounding margin (+6.1 rpg). Dwayne Davis is Southern Miss' leading scorer at 13.3 points per game, and is followed by Jerrold Brooks, who scores 10.5 points per contest. Jonathan Mills paces the Golden Eagles with 6.5 rebounds per game, and adds 9.0 points, while Neil Watson dishes 4.9 assists per outing and puts up 8.8 points.
