TULSA, Okla. - The Tulsa basketball team begins the second half of the Conference USA schedule when it plays host to UAB at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Donald W. Reynolds Center.

The Golden Hurricane (12-10, 4-4 C-USA) is facing the Blazers (9-13, 1-6 C-USA) in the first of a string of three games at home in its next four contests. The game will be broadcast on KRMG AM 740/102.3 FM in Tulsa, and on www.TulsaHurricane.com.

Tulsa Falls Short at UAB, 68-64
Jordan Clarkson scored 21 points, including 15 in the second half, to lead the Tulsa comeback, but the Hurricane fell at UAB, 68-64, Wednesday evening at Bartow Arena.

Freshman guard James Woodard leads the active Golden Hurricane players in scoring, averaging 12.6 points, with 5.7 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game. Senior guard Scottie Haralson averages 9.8 points and 3.6 rebounds per contest. Junior guard Pat Swilling, Jr., averages 10.5 points, and freshman guard Rashad Ray averages 6.8 points. Senior forward Kauri Black puts up 7.4 points and 4.9 rebounds per contest.

The Golden Hurricane averages 65.5 points and 36.0 rebounds per game, and shoots 44 percent from the field, 33 percent from three-point range and 67 percent from the free throw line. TU allows 64.8 points and 34.0 rebounds per contest, as well as a .401 field goal percentage and a .327 three-point percentage.

UAB averages 73.1 points and 37.0 rebounds per game, shooting .428 from the field, .331 from long distance, and .739 from the free throw line. The Blazers allow 73.4 points and 35.5 rebounds per contest, with a .454 field goal and a .374 three-point percentage. Jordan Swing leads UAB with 14.2 points per game, while Rod Rucker leads the team with 8.3 rebounds, and adds 13.6 points per outing. Terence Jones contributes 10.0 points and 4.0 assists a game.



This is the 15th meeting between Tulsa and UAB. The series is tied, 7-7. The Blazers, which won last season in Birmingham, 68-64, holds a 5-4 edge in the series since 2006. The Golden Hurricane won the last meeting in Tulsa, 78-62, in 2011. The Hurricane won three straight in the series from 2008-09, including two victories in the C-USA Tournament. Prior to that run, the Blazers won three in a row between 2006-08. UAB also won at home in 2010. Tulsa won the very first meeting between the schools in 1990, 92-86, at the All College Tournament in Oklahoma City, and TU has a 4-1 record all-time against the Blazers in Tulsa.
