EL PASO, Texas - The Tulsa basketball team faces a rematch with UTEP as it tries to stop a three-game skid when the Golden Hurricane and Miners square off at 8 p.m. CT Saturday at the Don Haskins Center. The Golden Hurricane (12-11, 4-5 C-USA) defeated the Miners (13-8, 6-2 C-USA), 45-42 in the initial meeting in Tulsa back on Jan. 16. TU is 5-5 in its last 10 contests, while UTEP has won four of five since that game in Tulsa. The game will be broadcast on KRMG AM 740/102.3 FM in Tulsa, and on www.TulsaHurricane.com.

Freshman guard James Woodard leads the active Golden Hurricane players in scoring, averaging 12.2 points, with 5.5 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game. Senior guard Scottie Haralson averages 9.7 points and 3.4 rebounds per contest. Junior guard Pat Swilling, Jr., averages 10.5 points, and freshman guard Rashad Ray averages 7.2 points. Senior forward Kauri Black puts up 7.2 points and 5.0 rebounds per contest. UTEP averages 63.9 points and 31.2 rebounds per game, shooting .453 from the field, .385 from long range, and .675 from the free throw line. The Miners allow 60.8 points and 32.8 rebounds per contest, and a .425 field goal percentage and a .336 three-point percentage. Julian Washburn scores 12.1 points to lead UTEP in scoring. Konner Tucker scores 11.5 points, and John Bohannon puts up 10.8 points and 6.4 rebounds off the bench. McKenzie Moore adds 9.4 points and 5.2 rebounds, and Jacques Streeter contributes 5.3 assists and 8.4 points. This is the 47th meeting between Tulsa and UTEP. Tulsa leads the series 29-17. The schools have split the last two season series, with the home team winning each time. The Golden Hurricane defeated the Miners, 45-42, in Tulsa on Jan. 16. TU won in Tulsa last season, 59-48, while UTEP won in El Paso, 64-55. TU also won at home in 2011, 69-68, while the Miners won in El Paso, 69-59, and also took a 66-54 win in the C-USA Tournament. Tulsa's home win in 2011 broke a four-game win streak by UTEP. The Hurricane had previously won four straight in the series. The series is tied, 9-9, since both schools joined Conference USA in 2005-06. Tulsa's average victory margin since 2006 is 9.8 points, while UTEP's victory margin is 9.1 points.
