TULSA, Okla. - The Tulsa men's basketball team plays at home this weekend in a two-game homestand, beginning with Thursday's 7 p.m. contest against East Carolina at the Donald W. Reynolds Center.

The Golden Hurricane (11-12 6-3 C-USA) has won seven of its last 10 games, and eight of its last nine contests at home. The Pirates (13-11, 2-7 C-USA) have won two of their last three games, including an 81-71 victory over UTSA on Saturday.

Tulsa used a 16-7 run in the final in the final 3:05 of the game to claim a 79-72 victory over East Carolina in the quarterfinal round of the Conference USA Basketball Championship on Thursday night at the downtown Tulsa BOK Center in front of 7,050 fans.

Sophomore guard James Woodard leads Tulsa in scoring and rebounding, averaging 14.4 points and 6.3 rebounds per game. Sophomore forward Rashad Smith scores 12.8 points with 5.4 rebounds per game. Shaquille Harrison averages 9.8 points and 3.5 assists per contest. Sophomore forward D'Andre Wright averages 7.9 points, sophomore guard Rashad Ray scores 6.2 points, Lew Evans scores 5.7 points per outing and Tim Peete averages 4.8 points.

The Golden Hurricane averages 73.1 points and 35.7 rebounds per game, shooting .437 from the field, including .336 from 3-point territory. Hurricane opponents average 71.1 points and 36.9 rebounds, while shooting .420 from the field.



East Carolina is led in scoring by Akeem Richmond, who averages 18.8 points and 4.6 3-pointers per game. Paris Campbell scores 13.0 points and adds 3.3 assists per contest, while Caleb White scores 12.4 points per outing, and Brandan Stith leads the team with 7.7 rebounds per game. The Pirates average 76.5 points and 35.5 rebounds per game, shooting .450 from the field and .364 from 3-poit range. ECU opponents average 72.2 points and 35.5 rebounds per game, shooting .446 from the field.

This is the 13th meeting between Tulsa and East Carolina. Tulsa leads the series, 10-2. The teams split two meetings last season. East Carolina won 72-63 on Feb. 20 in Tulsa, and the Golden Hurricane won 79-72 on March 14 in the C-USA Tournament at the BOK Center. The Hurricane won eight in a row from 2007-12. The only other series win by the Pirates came in the first contest between the schools as members of Conference USA, 59-45, in Greenville in 2006. Tulsa won the very first meeting, 86-63, in 1984 in Tulsa. The Golden Hurricane has won 10 meetings by an average of 12.9 points. Tulsa is 4-1 all-time against ECU at home.
