Coach Smith and the 1994 team as well as other TU basketball legends will be recognized at the 2014 season finale between Tulsa and UTSA. Game time for the TU-UTSA game is scheduled for 3:05 p.m.

The 1993-94 team posted an overall record of 23-8, won the Missouri Valley Conference regular season title and received an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament. During the regular season, Tulsa took No.1-ranked and eventual national champion Arkansas to the wire at the Tulsa Convention Center, losing 93-91 in overtime.
In the post-season, Tulsa was placed in the Oklahoma City region as the 12th-seeded Golden Hurricane faced No. 5 seed UCLA in first round action. Tulsa took a 10-0 lead against the Bruins and built a 16-point lead by the halfway point of the first half. The Hurricane had its largest lead of 29 points at 46-17 with 5:52 remaining in the first 20 minutes. Tulsa went into halftime with a 63-38 lead and ended up defeating UCLA by a score of 112-102.
Tulsa's second round match-up came against in-state foe and No. 4-seed Oklahoma State, a 12-point winner over the Hurricane earlier in the season. After trailing the Cowboys by 11 points at halftime, 50-39, the Hurricane outscored OSU by 13 points in the second half to take the victory. Gary Collier's four-foot jumper in the lane gave Tulsa a 79-78 lead with 1:01 left in the contest, and Lou Dawkins' 24-foot three-pointer from the left corner with 0:06 remaining put Tulsa had 82-78. The Hurricane held on for an 82-80 victory and celebrated its way to a rematch against the No.1-ranked Razorbacks in the NCAA round of 16.
