TULSA, Okla. - The Tulsa men's basketball team closes its two-game homestand with a key Conference USA contest against Old Dominion at 3 p.m. Saturday in the 8th Annual Hurricane Hoops for Hunger game at the Donald W. Reynolds Center.

The Golden Hurricane (12-12, 7-3 C-USA) has won eight of its last 11 games, and nine of its last 10 contests at home. The Monarchs (12-13, 6-4 C-USA) have won two of their last three, and seven of their last 11 contests, including a 72-62 win at North Texas on Thursday.

For the eighth consecutive year, TU invites fans to bring non-perishable or canned food items to benefit the Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma. Financial contributions will also be accepted. Food items and donations will be collected at the Reynolds Center. Gates open at 1:30 p.m.

Tickets for the games are available by visiting the TU Athletics Ticket Office in the Reynolds Center, by calling 918-631-GoTU (4688), or online at www.TulsaHurricane.com. The game will be broadcast on the Hurricane Radio Network, KRMG AM 740/102.3 FM in Tulsa, and network affiliates.

This is the second meeting between Tulsa and Old Dominion. Tulsa leads the series 1-0. The Golden Hurricane won the only contest between the two schools, 64-52, in the 1995 NCAA Second Round in Albany, N.Y. The victory put the Hurricane in the Sweet 16 for the second straight year.

Sophomore guard James Woodard leads Tulsa in scoring and rebounding, averaging 14.7 points and 6.3 rebounds per game. Sophomore forward Rashad Smith scores 12.5 points with 5.2 rebounds per game. Shaquille Harrison averages 9.9 points and 3.5 assists per contest. Sophomore forward D'Andre Wright averages 7.8 points, sophomore guard Rashad Ray scores 6.1 points, Lew Evans scores 5.6 points per outing, Tim Peete averages 4.7 points and Brandon Swannegan averages 4.0 points.

 

 

The Golden Hurricane averages 73.2 points and 35.9 rebounds per game, shooting .439 from the field, including .333 from 3-point territory. Hurricane opponents average 70.5 points and 36.4 rebounds, while shooting .419 from the field.
