Top 25 Rankings

TULSA, Okla. -- The Western Athletic Conference is ranked seventh among all Division I basketball leagues, according to a composite index released on Monday.

The Conference Composite Index uses 13 different computer rankings polls to develop a single ranking. This ranking system makes several assumptions. First, each of the 13 indices is weighted equally and each is gathered on Monday mornings, regardless of when a particular index is updated. Second, when the option is given, the overall RPI of a given index is used, as the overall strength of a conference is what is being measured and any index that gives unequal weight to certain games or certain teams is not used.

In each of these computer indices, 10 points are awarded to the top-rated conference and the lowest rated conference (No. 32) is given zero points. This use of the differential in computer points gives a more accurate picture than a simple rank order can do.

The Conference Composite Index can be accessed via the Internet at CompositeRankings.com.

The WAC office contributed to the development of this index.
