Tulsa basketball may not be recognized among college basketball's
elite east of the Mississippi, but Tulsa's
success over the past 20 years proves that the
Hurricane program is among the best in the
nation.
For the sixth time
in the last seven years the Hurricane has posted
20 wins in a season. In the 89-year history of
Tulsa basketball, this marks the 13th season that
Tulsa has registered 20+ wins.
In the past 20
seasons, Tulsa has enjoyed most of its success on
the basketball floor, posting 12 of those 13
seasons of 20 or more wins, and making 15
post-season tournament appearances, including 10
NCAA tournament appearances.
The Hurricane has
posted an 8-5 record in the NCAA Tournament in
the 1990's, and advancing to the "Sweet
Sixteen" twice, including the 1993-94 and
1994-95 seasons.
In each season in
which the Hurricane has won at least 20 games,
Tulsa advanced to post-season tournament
competition. The only year which Tulsa did not
advance to the NCAA Tournament when winning 20 or
more games was in the 1980-81 season when the
Hurricane went on to win the NIT Championship.
