Appalachian State's Kerry Keating Joins Peterson's Staff At Tulsa
Newly-appointed University of Tulsa basketball coach Buzz Peterson announced today the appointment of Kerry Keating as an assistant coach for the Golden Hurricane.
Keating, 28, comes to Tulsa from Appalachian State where he spent two seasons as an assistant coach under Peterson. At ASU, Keating was responsible for on-campus recruiting, scheduling and film exchange, along with practice and game duties.
Prior to that, Keating spent three seasons at Seton Hall, where he was an assistant coach for three seasons, working under George Blaney and Tommy Amaker. His duties at SHU included player development, pre-season conditioning and coordinating the school's summer basketball camps.
"Kerry has done a great job for us at Appalachian State, and will do an even better job at Tulsa," said Peterson. "He is a bright young coach who has gained tremendous experience and knowledge in his short time on the collegiate level."
In the 1994-95 season, Keating was an assistant coach at Vanderbilt along with Peterson, where his duties included scheduling, scouting and working with the team's backcourt players. During the 1993-94 season, Keating served as administrative assistant at Wake Forest, as the Demon Deacons were 21-12 and advanced to the NCAA Tournament.
Keating is a 1993 graduate of Seton Hall with a degree in communications. He was a walk-on member of the 1989-90 basketball team, before serving three years as the team's video coordinator.
