TULSA, Okla. - The University of Tulsa 2014-15 basketball slate is complete with the release of the American Athletic Conference schedule today.

TU's conference slate is made up of 18 games, including nine home games, and home-and-away contests against UConn, East Carolina, Houston, Memphis, South Florida, SMU, Temple and Tulane. TU will play a single home game against Cincinnati and a single road game at UCF.

All 18 of Tulsa's conference games will be televised on an ESPN network or by CBS Sports Network, while all 11 games of The American Championship will be televised by one of the ESPN networks.

Tulsa faces a step up in conference play in the power American Athletic Conference. Three teams in The American played in the NCAA Tournament last season, including national champion UConn, regular season conference co-champion Cincinnati, and Memphis. SMU reached the finals of the postseason NIT.

"We're thrilled about playing our first season in the American Athletic Conference," Tulsa Head Frank Haith said. "We're excited to play on national television every night, and excited that we'll have the opportunity to play home-and-home games against defending national champion UConn and against some of the teams in our league that have been consistent NCAA Tournament programs."

The Golden Hurricane opens its first season of play in The American on Dec. 31 at UCF. The Hurricane home debut is Jan. 4 when it plays host to Houston. Tulsa will play 12 non-conference games prior to beginning league play. That slate includes contests against Oklahoma, Oral Roberts, Wichita State, Creighton and Auburn.

Tulsa opens conference play at UCF on New Year's Eve. It will be the only meeting of the season between the Hurricane and Knights, which played 12 times from 2006-13. Tulsa won six of those games, and leads the overall series, 8-6.

The Golden Hurricane opens its home league schedule Sunday, Jan. 4 against Houston. TU then returns the trip to face the Cougars on Thursday, Feb. 5. Tulsa and Houston renew a tightly contested rivalry in which the Hurricane has won the last three meetings, and leads the series, 23-21.

Tulsa plays at Temple on Jan. 10, and plays host to the Owls on Feb. 22. The Hurricane defeated the Owls in the only two basketball contests between the schools in 1995 and 1996.

Defending national champion UConn visits the Reynolds Center on Tuesday, Jan. 13. The schools have played once in their history - during the 1978-79 season. The Hurricane returns the trip to the Huskies on Thursday, Feb. 12. UConn ended 2013-14 with 32-8 record and tied for third in the regular season league standings.

Tulsa plays at South Florida on Saturday, Jan. 17, and at home on Saturday, Jan. 31. The two games will mark the first meetings between the schools on the basketball court.

The Golden Hurricane plays host to Memphis on Wednesday, Jan. 21, and travels to face the Tigers on Saturday, Feb. 28. Tulsa has won 13 times in the 34 meetings, including a victory at Memphis in 2011. The Tigers tied for third in The American, and reached the NCAA Tournament with a record of 24-10 and 12-6.

TU continues its conference rivalries with East Carolina and Tulane, which also joined Tulsa in The American this year. TU plays at East Carolina on Saturday, Jan. 24, and at the Reynolds Center on Wednesday, Feb. 18. The Hurricane leads the series, 11-2, including a 76-58 win at home last season.

The Golden Hurricane plays at Tulane on Wednesday, Jan. 28, while the Green Wave returns the visit on Wednesday, Feb. 25. Tulsa won both meetings against Tulane last season, and leads the overall series, 12-5.

SMU pays a visit to the Reynolds Center on Saturday, Feb. 7, while TU meets the Mustangs in Dallas for the final regular season game on Sunday, March 8. The schools split their last two contests during the 2012-13 season, but the Hurricane holds a 31-15 advantage all-time against SMU. The Mustangs posted an overall 27-10 record and a 12-6 mark in league play as it ended the regular season in a third-place tie in The American standings.

Cincinnati and Tulsa play Wednesday, March 4, at the Reynolds Center in the only contest of the conference season between the schools. Former co-members of the Missouri Valley Conference, the Bearcats hold a 21-10 lead in the overall series, but the Hurricane came out on top in the last meeting, a 69-61 victory in the second round of the 2000 NCAA Tournament. Cincinnati shared the regular season conference title with Louisville last season, posting a 15-3 league mark and a 27-7 record overall.

All 11 teams converge on Hartford, Connecticut for the American Athletic Conference Championship March 12-15. The tournament will be played at Hartford's XL Center.

In all during the 2014-15 season, the Golden Hurricane will play home games against UConn, Cincinnati, Oklahoma, Creighton, Memphis, SMU, Temple and Louisiana-Lafayette.
