Men's Basketball Progressing Toward Season
Oct. 19, 2012
TULSA, Okla. - The Tulsa basketball team is wrapping up its initial week of preseason practice, with its first exhibition game scheduled for Oct. 27 against Emporia State.
Shaquille Harrison is one of five freshmen getting acclimated to the college game. He says he feels a lot better at this point in fall camp than he did when he arrived in the summer. He feels the defense has improved, likes the team chemistry, and is anxious for the season to begin.
The guard from Kansas City, Mo., averaged 3.0 points, 2.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 3.5 steals during the Golden Hurricane tour of Canada in August. He averaged 17.3 points, 7.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 3.2 steals per game in his high school senior season.
Tulsa will hold an open practice Saturday from 11 a.m.-noon on the main floor of the Donald W. Reynolds Center prior to the Homecoming football game at 2:30 p.m.
TU takes on Emporia State at 3:05 p.m. Oct. 27 at the Reynolds Center in its first exhibition game. The Hurricane will also play Oklahoma Panhandle State on Nov. 4 at 4:35 p.m. The season officially opens Nov. 11 when Tulsa plays host to LSU Shreveport at 7:05 p.m.
