TULSA, Okla. - The Danny Manning Era of Tulsa Basketball officially begins Sunday when the Golden Hurricane opens the 2012-13 season against LSU Shreveport at 7:05 p.m. in the Donald W. Reynolds Center.

All tickets and concession stand items for the season opener are half-price. In addition, all fans coming to the game will receive a TU Basketball T-shirt bearing the slogan, "I Believe in D'Mann."

The season opener marks the official debut of Manning as TU's head coach, as well as the playing debut of five freshmen. The Golden Hurricane squad features eight newcomers with five returning players from last year's roster. Senior Scottie Haralson, junior Tim Peete and sophomore Rashad Smith return with playing experience for the Hurricane.

Tulsa won both of its exhibition games, defeating Emporia State, 60-49, and Oklahoma Panhandle State, 113-70. Freshmen Shaquille Harrison, James Woodard, Rashad Ray and D'Andre Wright, and senior transfer Kauri Black made an impact in the exhibition contests for the Golden Hurricane.

This will be the first meeting between Tulsa and LSU Shreveport. The Pilots are coached by former TU basketball player Kyle Blankenship. Blankenship, who played for the Golden Hurricane from 2001-05, is in his first year at LSUS, and is the nephew of current Tulsa Head Football Coach Bill Blankenship.

With the half-price special offer, tickets to the first game of the Manning Era are priced at $5, $7, $9.50, $14.50 and $19.50. Combo meals featuring a hamburger & fries or chicken tenders & fries will be half-price for $3.50, while hot dogs will be $1.75, jumbo pretzel $2.00 among many other half-priced concession items.

Sunday is also the first game of the South Pointe Auto Group 14-for-14 Giveaway. At each game during the 2012-13 TU basketball season, a lucky fan will have the opportunity to receive one prize ranging from $700 to $6,500, including a 2-year lease for a 2013 Chevy Cruze vehicle.

Tickets for Sunday's season opener, as well as all single-game tickets, can be purchased online at wwww.TulsaHurricane.com, by calling the TU Athletics Ticket Office at 918-631-GoTU (4688), or in person at the Reynolds Center Ticket Office.
