Tulsa Basketball Hosts South Alabama in Saturday Afternoon MatineeNov. 20, 2009
Tulsa, Oklahoma - The Tulsa men's basketball team hosts South Alabama at the Donald W. Reynolds Center in a Saturday afternoon matinee. Tulsa puts its' 3-0 record on the line against the 3-1 Jaguars in a 3 pm game. USA is coming off of a Thursday night 82-53 win against Spring Hill College, while the Hurricane has captured double-digit wins over St. Mary's, FIU and UALR. It's the first meeting between the two teams since Tulsa captured a two-point lead against South Alabama in the 1981 NIT quarterfinals, en route to winning the school's first of two NIT championships. Tulsa seniors Ben Uzoh and Jerome Jordan lead the Hurricane attack, as Uzoh averages 15.0 points and Jordan 13.3 points and a team-high nine rebounds. Jordan is nearing some milestones -- 700 rebounds and 266 blocks, which would tie the school's all-time record. Jordan needs seven rebounds to reach 700 and seven blocks to tie Michael Ruffin for the blocks record. The Jaguars are led by 6'5" freshman forward Brock Martino and junior guard Tim Williams, as the duo are each averaging 13.5 points. Tickets still remain and can be purchased for as low as $10.
