Woodard Earns Second C-USA Freshman of the Week Honor

TULSA, Okla. - Tulsa guard James Woodard was named Conference USA Men's Basketball Freshman of the Week after averaging 20.5 points, 9.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game in two games last week, the league office announced Monday. A native of Edmond, Okla., Woodard shot .500 (14-of-28) from the field, and totaled 41 points, 19 rebounds and seven assists to lead Tulsa to a 1-1 record last week. He scored 27 points against Jackson State on Wednesday. In that game, he connected on 10-of-18 shots, hit three three-pointers, made all four free throws, dished four assists and added a block and steal in the 86-66 win over the Tigers. Saturday against Stephen F. Austin, Woodard scored 14 points, grabbed eight rebounds, and tallied three assists in the loss to the Lumberjacks. The Golden Hurricane travels to Wichita, Kan., this week to continue its renewed rivalry with Wichita State at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
