South Padre Island, Texas - The Tulsa men's basketball team faces Big 12 Conference foe Texas A&M tonight in the South Padre Invitational at 7:35 pm (CST) at the South Padre Island Convention Center.

Tulsa is off to a 3-1 start, while the Aggies have posted a 4-0 record. A&M has defeated Arkansas-Pine Bluff, Stephen F. Austin, Jackson State and UNC Wilmington this season. Tulsa's wins have come against cross-town rival Oral Roberts, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and North Carolina Central.

The two teams are coming off of impressive seasons a year ago, as Tulsa posted a 25-14 mark and won the inaugural CBI post-season tournament, while A&M finished with a 25-11 mark and advanced to the NCAA second round, losing a tight 51-49 decision against No. 1 West Regional seed UCLA.

The Aggies have four players scoring in double-digits through their first four games, led by 6-7 forward Josh Carter's 15.8 points. Guard Donald Sloan and forward Bryan Davis have scored at 12.5 points apiece, while 6-10 center Chinemelu Elonu has a 10.3 scoring average and leads the team with 7.0 rebounds per game.

Tulsa junior guard Ben Uzoh paces the Hurricane attack with an 18.0 scoring average, while seven-foot center Jerome Jordan averages 10.5 points. 7.5 rebounds and 3.5 blocked shots. Sophomore guard Glenn Andrews has chipped in 10.3 points coming off the bench for the Hurricane.

Uzoh enters tonight's game needing 14 points to become just the 32nd player in school history to reach the 1,000-point plateau. He has scored 986 career points in 74 contests for a 13.3 scoring average.

Tulsa leads the overall series against Texas A&M, 6-0. The first meeting came in December 1954 when Tulsa captured a 57-45 win in College Station, while the last game was a 90-56 Tulsa win on December 14, 2001 in Houston.

The final round opponent for the Hurricane will be either Kent State or Illinois, as those two teams face off earlier in the day on Friday. Tulsa will play Saturday at either 4:30 pm or 7:30 pm.
