Tulsa at Wichita State Can be Seen on Cox Ch. 3/703

WICHITA, Kan. - The Tulsa basketball team continues its longest-running rivalry when it plays at Wichita State Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Charles Koch Arena. The game will be televised in Kansas, and can be seen in Oklahoma on Cox Cable Channel 3 and 703 HD. The TU radio broadcast will be available on KRMG AM 740/102.3 FM. and www.TulsaHurricane.com. In its last outing, the Golden Hurricane (4-2) fell to Stephen F. Austin, 57-41 on Saturday. The Shockers (6-0) won the Cancun Challenge with wins over DePaul, 75-62, and Iowa, 75-63.

This will be the 122nd meeting between Tulsa and Wichita State. WSU leads the series, 61-60, as the Shockers have won the last two meetings: in Wichita in 2010 by a score of 82-79, and 77-67 last season in Tulsa. Freshman guard James Woodard leads the Golden Hurricane, averaging 17.2 points, 5.8 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game, while shooting 55 percent from the floor. Senior guard Scottie Haralson averages 10.3 points and 2.5 three-pointers per contest. Freshman guard Rashad Ray and freshman forward D'Andre Wright each score 8.0 points per game, while Ray adds 1.8 assists per game, and Wright adds 5.5 rebounds. Senior forward Kauri Black puts up 7.3 points and 5.8 rebounds per contest The Golden Hurricane averages 75.3 points and 38.5 rebounds per game, and shoots 48 percent from the field, 35 percent from three-point range and 74 percent from the free throw line. TU allows 62.7 points and 31.5 rebounds per contest, as well as a .383 field goal percentage and a .342 three-point percentage. Tulsa and Wichita State were rivals in the Missouri Valley Conference. The first game was played in the 1930-31 season. The last game as MVC rivals was played on Feb. 24, 1996 as Tulsa claimed a 72-66 decision at the Tulsa Convention Center. The two teams have played nine times since then with Tulsa holding a 5-4 record in those contests. WSU has won the last four games in the series. Until 2010, the teams had gone five years without playing.
