SUNRISE, Fla. - The Tulsa basketball team is in South Florida this weekend to take on Florida State in the 2012 MetroPCS Orange Bowl Basketball Classic at 1 p.m. CT Saturday at BB&T Center.

The contest is the last of four away from home for the Golden Hurricane, which closes out the 2012 portion of its schedule Saturday. TU (7-5) is coming off a 72-68 win at Oral Roberts last Saturday, while the Seminoles (7-4) defeated Charlotte, 79-7, on Saturday. The game will be televised by FSN, and the radio broadcast can be heard in Tulsa on KRMG AM 740/102.3 FM and www.TulsaHurricane.com.

Freshman guard James Woodard leads the active Golden Hurricane players in scoring, averaging 14.1 points, with 6.1 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game, while shooting 48 percent from the floor. Senior guard Scottie Haralson averages 9.2 points and 2.3 three-pointers per contest. Freshman forward D'Andre Wright scores 8.2 points per game with 5.1 rebounds, and freshman guard Rashad Ray averages 7.7 points. Senior forward Kauri Black puts up 6.9 points and 4.8 rebounds per contest. Junior guard Pat Swilling, Jr., has averaged 7.8 points and 1.8 rebounds in his five games back on the court.

The Golden Hurricane averages 67.8 points and 37.1 rebounds per game, and shoots 46 percent from the field, 32 percent from three-point range and 68 percent from the free throw line. TU allows 63.7 points and 31.9 rebounds per contest, as well as a .404 field goal percentage and a .340 three-point percentage.

 

 

This is fourth meeting between Tulsa and Florida State. Florida State leads the series 3-0. The teams last met in 1982, a 96-80 win by the Seminoles in San Diego. TU and FSU previously played a home-and-home series in the 1963-65 seasons. Florida State won 91-76 in Tallahassee in 1963, and 74-72 in Tulsa in 1964.
