Tulsa Basketball Takes on TCU Thursday at 7 p.m.

TULSA, Okla. - The University of Tulsa basketball team takes on TCU Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Donald W. Reynolds Center, as it closes the 2010 portion of its schedule and faces its final test before opening league play. The Golden Hurricane enters the game with a 6-6 record on the season, while TCU comes to town with a 9-4 record. TU has won two of its last three games, and in that span has averaged 84.0 points and has shot 49 percent from the field, hitting on 45 percent of its three-pointers and 80 percent of its free throws. In those three contests, Justin Hurtt has averaged 33.0 points with 4.0 assists per game, Scottie Haralson has averaged 14.3 points, Steven Idlet has averaged 12.3 points and Pope has averaged 10.0 points and 3.3 assists per game. For the season, Tulsa averages 74.8 points per game while allowing 71.1 points per game. The Golden Hurricane shoots 45 percent from the floor and allows opponents 43 percent shooting. TU out-rebounds foes, 35.8-32.0 rebounds per contest. The Hurricane also shoots 38 percent from three-point territory and has a .705 free-throw percentage. Hurtt leads Tulsa scoring this year with 21.8 points per game. Idlet averages 13.4 ppg, and Haralson averages 13.0 ppg. Idlet shoots 49 percent from the floor, and Hurtt averages 46 percent from the floor and 89 percent shooting from the free throw line. Idlet and Joe Richard lead TU with 5.7 and 5.8 rebounds per game, respectively. Hurtt leads the Hurricane with 34 assists (2.8 apg), and Clarkson averages 2.0 apg. TCU averages 75.6 points per game and 34.9 rebounds per game. The Horned Frogs shoot 47 percent from the field, have a .374 three-point percentage, and shoot 68 percent from the free throw line. TCU opponents average 68.6 points per game, a .448 field-goal percentage, 325 percent from long range, and 33.0 rebounds per game. TCU is led in scoring by guard Ronnie Moss, who averages 15.0 points and 4.2 assists per game. Forward Garlon Green averages 12.5 ppg and 4.5 rebounds per game, and guard Sammy Yeager averages 10.2 ppg and 4.7 rpg. Guard Hank Thorns adds 9.2 ppg, and J.R. Cadot leads the Frogs with 6.5 rebounds per game and scores 8.9 ppg.
This is the 30th meeting between Tulsa and TCU. Tulsa leads the series 19-10. This is also the first meeting since 2003. The Golden Hurricane won the last two contests, 74-62, in 2003 in Ft. Worth, and 78-65, in 2002 in Tulsa. TU has won eight of the last nine meetings between the former WAC rivals dating back to 1999. The Hurricane has an average winning margin of 17.4 points in those eight games. TCU's only victory during that stretch was a, 93-87, overtime win in Ft. Worth in 2001.
