Rountree replaces Holman Wiggins who took a similar position at Memphis

Clint Rountree, a 2006 graduate of The University of Tulsa, serves as the Director of High School Relations for the Golden Hurricane. He was appointed to his present position on January 21, 2011.

He is in his second season at his alma mater. Last year, Rountree was a defensive graduate assistant coach as he assisted with coaching the linebackers. Following his playing career, Rountree spent the 2005 Conference USA Championship season as a student assistant with the Hurricane and was a graduate assistant coach in the 2006 campaign, as he assisted with coaching the defensive secondary both years.

Rountree has been involved in five Bowl games, including one as a player and four as a coach. He played in the Humanitarian Bowl following the 2003 season, while he was on the Tulsa coaching staff for the 2005 Liberty Bowl, 2006 Armed Forces Bowl and the 2010 Sheraton Hawai'i Bowl. He also coached in the 2007 Division II Rotary Bowl with Colorado Mines.

In the 2007 season, Rountree served as the wide receivers coach at Colorado School of the Mines, helping that school post a 7-5 record and finish No. 1 for pass offense in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.

Rountree then moved to Delta State (Miss.) University, where he spent two seasons (2008-09) as the defensive secondary coach. In 2008, Delta State won the conference championship, posted a 10-2 record and finished the season ranked No. 6 nationally in NCAA Division II. The Delta State defense ranked No. 1 in the Gulf South Conference during the 2008 campaign, while in 2009 ranked No. 2 in pass defense efficiency.

Rountree was a four-year letterwinner for Tulsa from 2001-04. He began his collegiate career as a receiver and moved to the defensive secondary in his sophomore season. Rountree played in 48 career games, while starting 27 contests for the Hurricane.

He earned his bachelor's degree in exercise sports science in 2006.
