Dan Sharp is in his third year on the Hurricane coaching staff and his first as tight ends coach. He spent the previous two years as the defensive ends coach. Sharp coached seven seasons at TCU before joining the Tulsa staff.

At TCU, Sharp coached tight ends for five seasons and defensive ends for two years. The 36-year-old played tight end at TCU in the 1980s. In his senior season, Sharp helped the Horned Frogs reach the Bluebonnet Bowl. He caught 42 passes for 596 yards and seven touchdowns that season and gained All-Southwest Conference recognition.

Following his collegiate career, Sharp spent the next two seasons in professsional football with the Atlanta Falcons before returning to his alma mater in 1988. He received his bachelor's degree in secondary education from TCU in 1985, and his master's in liberal arts in 1992.

Sharp and his wife, Cindy, have two children: Alexandra and Andrea.
