Tulsa-Memphis Post-Game Quotes

Tulsa Head Coach Steve Kragthorpe:
"Well, obviously a great football game. It was one of the wildest ones I've been in, in terms of ups and flows. Two very good teams battling it out. It was one of those games if you were sitting in the stands you didn't care who wins, you watched a good football game. I did care who won and I'm glad we did."

On starting conference play:
"Well, it was a good way to start. We're trying to compete for a conference championship and getting to the conference championship game this year, and this was round one of the championship fight. We talked about getting off to a good start and certainly this is a good start, but it's not anywhere near where we need to finish."

On the final play of the game:
The biggest play of the game was where he (DeAngelo Williams) jumped offsides on fourth and three and now he has to get fourth and eight. He got seven yards on the final play and if it's fourth and three that's a first down. So there were two big plays there."

Quarterback Paul Smith-
"I'm definitely excited. Coach (Charlie) Stubbs does a great job of keeping teams off-balance. Garrett Mills is still getting open even though the defense is still keying on him. Our four running backs and offensive line did a good job of establishing the run tonight and kind of took a little pressure off the passing game, which is nice."

On the final play: "We weren't necessarily trying to score. It was four verticals and we had thrown a touchdown to him earlier, and my read was to go to him. He wasn't my first read and if he wasn't there I would have gone to my running back and just try to get something going in overtime. He beat the guy just like the first time, so I just laid it up."

Tight End Garrett Mills-
"Coach Stubbs called my number, I got open and Paul (Smith) threw a good ball."

"It's our first Conference USA game and obviously we wanted to win. I think this team showed the fight that we had and hopefully this will lead to more wins starting next week with Houston."
