Tulsa improved to 5-3 overall and 4-1 in Conference USA.
Garrett Mills had his fifth 100+ receiving game this season, and the sixth of his career. The last time Tulsa has had a player with five 100-yard receiving games was Donald Shoals in the 2001 season.
With two TD receptions against SMU, Mills now has five career multiple receiving touchdown games. In his career against SMU, Mills has five receiving TDs, including three in 2003 and two this year.
In his career, Mills now has 172 receptions for 1,928 yards and 21 touchdowns.
Uril Parrish moved into eighth place on the school's career rushing chart. He now has 2,117 career yards.
Tulsa failed to score 30 or more points in just the second win at home in 11 home wins under Steve Kragthorpe.
Mills has caught the first Tulsa pass of the game for the seventh time in eight games. He has now caught a pass in 35 consecutive games.
Bobby Klinck recovered a fumble for the second straight week, and three in the last two games.
True freshman nose guard Terrel Nemons started his first career game. Tulsa has now had eight different players start a game this year on the defensive line. He's also the third true freshman this year to start on the Tulsa defense.
This was the second straight week that Tulsa held the opponent scoreless in the first quarter.

On Tulsa's first touchdown drive, Garrett Mills caught Tulsa's final four passes of the drive, totaling 51 yards.
