Tulsa wore chrome gold helmets, white jerseys and white pants.
Tulsa's starting lineup today was missing 5 starters due to injury that began the season in the first game as starters -- WR Keyarris Garrett, QB Cody Green, WR Derek Patterson, LB Trent Martin, OG Stetson Burnett.
East Carolina didn't sore on its first possession for the first time this year.
Tulsa scored a touchdown on its first possession today for only the second time this season. Tulsa also scored a TD on its first possession at UTEP, and also had a field goal against Rice.
Defensive end Chris Hummingbird received his second start this year. His first came in the season opener.
Shawn Jackson got a half sack closer to tying the school record of 20 quarterback sacks when he and Derrick Luetjen shared a sack of -9 yards in the second quarter. It was Jackson's 19.5 career sack.
Trey Watts became the first player to rush for over 100 yards against East Carolina this season. He surpassed the 100+ mark in the first half with 104 first-half yards on 20 carries.
Watts now has five 100-yard rushing games this year and 12 for his career. He finished with 120 rushing yards.
Ja'Terian Douglas had a career-long 83-yard kickoff return in the second half for the longest return this season for the Hurricane.
Douglas went over 200 yards in all-purpose yards for his first career 200+ all-purpose yardage game. He finished with 228 all-purpose yards.
It was also the 13th straight 100+ all-purpose yard game for Trey Watts, including the 11th of those games over 150 yards. He finished with 168 all-purpose yards.
Will Barrow's 31-yard fumble return for a touchdown was Tulsa's first defensive score of the year, and the first fumble return for a TD since Oct. 12, 2012 when Shawn Jackson had a 17-yard fumble return for a touchdown against UTEP.
East Carolina's 58 points is the most given up by the Hurricane since allowing 59 points against Oklahoma State on Sept. 17, 2011.
Tulsa's streak of nine straight wins against C-USA East Division opponents came to an end today. The last Tulsa loss against an East Division foe was against East Carolina in the 2010 season opener, Sept. 5, 2010. Tulsa is now 22-7 all-time against C-USA East Division opponents.
Shawn Jackson had a team-high 14 tackles for his 12th career 10+ tackle game and the fifth of the season.
Trey Watts now has 5,724 career all-purpose yards and 3,043 career rushing yards.
