TU FOOTBALL TEAM TO RECEIVE CITY PROCLAMATION TODAY
Jan. 31, 2013
Tulsa, Oklahoma - Members of the University of Tulsa football team will be presented a City of Tulsa proclamation tonight at the Tulsa City Council meeting. The meeting will begin with the proclamation at 6:00 pm.
The proclamation will recognize and congratulate the Tulsa Golden Hurricane football team for compiling a school record-tying 11-3 season mark, a Conference USA Championship and AutoZone Liberty Bowl Championship.
Tulsa captured the C-USA title on December 1st at H.A. Chapman Stadium with a 33-27 overtime victory over UCF. On Dec. 31st, the Hurricane defeated Iowa State of the Big 12 in Memphis, Tennessee, to capture TU's second AutoZone Liberty Bowl Championship. Tulsa also won the 2005 Liberty Bowl trophy.
The TU team will be represented tonight by Assistant Head Coach Scott Downing and a handful of Hurricane football student-athletes. As the final week of recruiting winds down, Head Coach Bill Blankenship remains out of town on a recruiting trip and will be unable to attend tonight's City Council proclamation.
