SIGNING DAY 2011 . . . TULSA GETS ALL 23 SIGNEES
Feb. 2, 2011
Tulsa, Oklahoma - It's an unusual football signing day at The University of Tulsa, and probably for a number of the college football programs as well. A winter storm blanketed the state of Oklahoma and much of the midwest and east coast on Tuesday, thus putting a damper on what is supposed to be a day high school seniors signing national letters-of-intent celebrate. But it won't damper TU coaches' spirits when those signed letters-of-intent show up. At Tulsa, the University has closed for a second straight day and a skeleton crew of football coaches is monitoring the all-important fax machine on Wednesday. First-year Head Football Coach Bill Blankenship was the first to show-up at the Tulsa football offices. He didn't just show up this morning, he came on Tuesday and stayed the night. Blankenship made sure that the horrible road conditions (many impassable roads) from the 14-inches of snow that was dropped on Tulsa didn't keep him away from receiving those ever-so important papers being faxed from 20 or so young men. Many of us can get out of our driveways, but can't get a car-length down the street without getting stuck due to snowdrifts and a lack of snowplows. So, Coach Blankenship took a long 2+ hour drive, that normally takes 20 minutes, in a four-wheel drive vehicle on Tuesday afternoon and stayed. On Tuesday, Tulsa's coaching staff confirmed with high school coaches that all of the Hurricane recruits would be able to fax in their national letters-of-intent on Wednesday. Although, some may not arrive as early as expected, it appears that each student-athlete will be able to get their papers faxed. Follow Tulsa Signing Day Central for information regarding the student-athletes that sign letters-of-intent with the Golden Hurricane. Due to the poor conditions, Tulsa's press conference has been moved from Wednesday at 2:30 pm to Thursday at 1:30 pm 2011 Tulsa Football Signees Name Pos. Ht. Wt. Cl.
