Tulsa Signs JC Receiver to National Letter-of-Intent
Feb. 13, 2006
Tulsa, Oklahoma - University of Tulsa Head Football Coach Steve Kragthorpe announced today the signing of junior college receiver Cameron Clemons to a national letter-of-intent.
Clemons is the sixth receiver signed by the Hurricane in this recruiting class, and the fourth junior college receiver.
A 5'11", 180-pound receiver, Clemons played the last two seasons at Santa Ana Community College. He was third on the team in receiving as a sophomore with 21 receptions for 341 yards and four touchdowns. He had high games of three catches for 61 yards against El Camino College and three receptions for 55 yards vs. Golden West College.
"We're excited to have Cameron join our football program," said Kragthorpe. "He is an excellent wide receiver prospect who plays the position with great effort and toughness."
Clemons caught 12 passes for 187 yards and one TD to rank fifth on the team in receiving in the 2004 campaign. He had high games of four receptions against Fullerton College and 69 yards vs. Saddleback College.
In his two-year career, Clemons averaged 16.0 yards per reception.
"Cameron is a great kid who does everything well that you want from a receiver," said Geoff Jones, Santa Ana Community College Head Coach. "He runs really well, and has the ability to go up and get the ball. Cameron is a great ball catcher and is an above average blocker.
"He had a shoulder injury that slowed him as a sophomore, but was able to continue to play. Once he's totally healed from that, Cameron can be an impact player for Tulsa," added Jones.
Clemons was a two-year letterwinner at Canyon High School in Anaheim, where he was an all-Century League selection and team offensive MVP as a senior.
