Tulsa, Oklahoma - University of Tulsa Head Football Coach Todd Graham announced today the hiring of Michigan's Bob McClain as tight ends coach and recruiting coordinator for the Golden Hurricane.
McClain is reunited with Graham and Tulsa Offensive Coordinator Herb Hand, all three of whom previously worked together at West Virginia University.
McClain spent last season (2008) as the special teams and offensive quality control coach at Michigan. He assisted with coaching the tight ends and special teams for the Wolverines.
Before that, McClain spent two seasons (2006-07) as the offensive coordinator at Glenville State College in West Virginia, where he also served as recruiting coordinator. He also tutored the offensive line, tight ends and running backs in his two-year tenure, and had six athletes earn all-conference accolades in his two seasons.
Previously, McClain spent six seasons at West Virginia (2000-05). His final three years were spent as an offensive graduate assistant coach, where he worked with the offensive line and tight end positions. McClain's first two years at WVU was spent as an offensive video graduate assistant, while also assisting with coaching the offensive line and tight ends. He began his stint at West Virginia as an academic graduate assistant in September 2000.
At West Virginia, McClain was a part of four Bowl teams and three Big East Conference Championships, one outright and two shared titles.
"We're very excited to have Bob join our staff. He has a great familiarity with our offense, having spent time with Herb and myself at West Virginia University," said Graham. "He has an extensive background and knowledge of the spread no-huddle offense, and is familiar with how we do things programmatically as well as schematically. He has vast experience and knowledge in our offense and how we do things at Tulsa.

"I'm also excited about his abilities as our recruiting coordinator. Bob was very instrumental in bringing top recruits to West Virginia when we were there, as well as this last year to Michigan," added Graham.
McClain, 34 (6-27-74), earned his bachelor's degree from Waynesburg College (Pa.) in business is 1996. He also received three master's degrees from West Virginia, earning degrees in secondary education, elementary education and educational leadership.
