TULSA'S KEYARRIS GARRETT NAMED TO BILETNIKOFF WATCH LIST

Tallahassee, Florida - University of Tulsa receiver Keyarris Garrett was named to the 2013 Biletnikoff Award Preseason Watch List, it was released today by the Tallahassee Quarterback Club Foundation. The Biletnikoff Award recognizes the outstanding receiver in college football.
Garrett, a 6'4", 220-pound junior from Daingerfield, Texas, led the Hurricane receiving corps with 845 yards and nine touchdowns on 67 receptions a year ago. He started 11 of 14 games and turned in a career-best performance of 130 yards and three touchdowns on seven catches in Tulsa's first meeting against UCF. Garrett was named the Conference USA Offensive Player of the Week for his performance in that game.
He also totaled 118 yards and one TD on three catches against Rice, and had a career-high 12 receptions for 94 yards at Arkansas last season.
Garrett enters his third season for the Hurricane as he saw playing time as a true freshman in the 2011 campaign.
Among the 75 receivers on the watch list, Garrett is one of six Conference USA players. The other C-USA players are FAU's William Dukes, Tulane's Ryan Grant, Justin Hardy of East Carolina, UTEP's Jordan Leslie and Marshall's Tommy Shuler.
Last year's winner Marqise Lee of Southern Cal returns to the Trojans receiving corps this season.
The name Biletnikoff is synonymous with the term receiver. Fred Biletnikoff, a member of the pro and college football halls of fame, was an All-Pro receiver with the Oakland Raiders and an All-America receiver at Florida State University. He caught 589 passes for 8,974 yards and 76 touchdowns in his 14-year Raiders career from 1965 through 1978. Fred was the Most Valuable Player of Super Bowl XI.
The 10 Biletnikoff Award semifinalists will be announced on November 18, 2013, following the vote by the Biletnikoff Award National Selection Committee. Likewise, the three finalists will be declared, following another vote, on Nov. 25, 2013. The 2013 Biletnikoff Award winner will be presented live on December 12, 2013, on The Home Depot College Football Awards Show to be broadcast from 7-8 pm on ESPN.
Tulsa opens the 2013 season on Thursday, August 29 in Ohio against the Bowling Green Falcons. Game time has been set for 6 pm (CT)/7 pm (ET) and can be seen on ESPN U. The Hurricane will kick-off the home season on Sept. 7 against the Colorado State Rams with a 6:00 pm kick time.
