Tulsa Football Newcomers Report
Aug. 7, 2000 University of Tulsa Head Football Coach Keith Burns welcomed 31 newcomers to campus on Sunday. Two-a-day drills begin Monday for the Golden Hurricane newcomers. Among the 31 newcomers, 23 scholarship freshmen and eight walkons. Among the newcomers, 16 hail from the state of Oklahoma. Another newcomer, Oklahoma transfer Michael Dulaney will report with the varsity on Tuesday. The newcomers will undergo their first workout as members of the Golden Hurricane football program on Monday morning, beginning at 9:15 a.m., and will practice again in the afternoon at 3:45 p.m. "Obviously, this is an exciting time for us as coaches. We finally get to do what we were hired to do -- coach and teach football," said Burns. "This is a special class of newcomers. It's our first one, and they're a group of winners. A lot of them come from high schools that have won state championships. They have been a part of elite teams.
The varsity will report on Tuesday, August 8, and begin practicing
on Thursday with a morning workout time of 8:45 a.m.
