CHAMBER KICKOFF LUNCHEON KICKS OFF HURRICANE SEASON

Tulsa, Oklahoma - For more than 35 years, the Tulsa Chamber of Commerce Luncheon has signified the kick-off of The University of Tulsa's football season, and today nearly 600 people gathered at the Cox Business Center in downtown Tulsa for the annual event.
Fans heard remarks from Tulsa Regional Chamber President and CEO Mike Neal, TU Director of Athletics Dr. Derrick Gragg, TU President Steadman Upham and City of Tulsa Mayor Dewey Bartlett before the lunch portion of the program.
Following lunch, Head Coach Bill Blankenship was questioned by Tulsa radio voice Bruce Howard in a "Tonight Show" themed interview. A trio of seniors -- safety Demarco Nelson, running back Trey Watts and quarterback Cody Green -- also took part in the question and answer period.
Tulsa practiced for two hours at H.A. Chapman Stadium on Wednesday morning for its 11th practice of preseason camp. Tulsa will be back on the field Thursday morning.
