Tulsa, Oklahoma - The University of Tulsa football team began its preparations for the 2010 season opener with East Carolina during a morning practice session Wednesday at H.A. Chapman Stadium.

The overcast weather provided the Golden Hurricane with the coolest temperatures of the fall as they dove into game-prep mode. The temperature at the beginning of practice was 73 degrees, and it only reached 83 degrees by the end of practice.

"Today was all East Carolina. We divided up our scout teams and started installing our first- and second-down game plans," TU Head Coach Todd Graham said. "There are times when guys drag on the days where you're doing a lot of scout stuff, but everyone was flying around today and it was a great practice."

Starting quarterback G.J. Kinne said he is doing everything he can to make sure his team is fully prepared to take on the Pirates.

"(East Carolina) has a great defense that is going to give us a lot of different looks," Kinne said. "We're just trying to break that down day-by-day and I think we did a good job of getting started today. I just have to work on managing the game and making sure I put us in the best position to be successful, while not making any mistakes."

Kinne was 23-for-46 for 236 yards during last seasons' matchup with ECU. He threw two touchdowns in the contest.

"We've been used to having one type of practice that involved a lot of contact at full speed, so today was an adjustment for the guys," offensive coordinator Chad Morris said. "We've had a couple of scrimmages and good evaluations, and now it's time to start our focus and get ready for that climb for East Carolina."

Tulsa opens the 2010 season at defending Conference USA Champion East Carolina on Sunday, September 5th on ESPN 2. Tulsa will open the home season against Bowling Green on Sept. 11th. Season tickets are available at www.TulsaHurricane.com or by calling 918.631.GoTU (4688).
