The University of Tulsa football program was recognized as one of 26 NCAA Division I-A members to receive honorable mention status by the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) for having graduation rates of 70 percent or better.

Tulsa was among three schools -- Rice and SMU the other two -- from the Western Athletic Conference to earn the achievement. The WAC ranked fourth among conferences with the most schools earning above the 70 percent graduation rate.

Syracuse Univerity won the 2000 AFCA Academic Achievement Award, which is presented annually by the Touchdown Club of Memphis.

The overall graduation rate of the 97 institutions participating in the AFCA survey was 57 percent.
