Tulsa's Taylor Named to Rimington Watch List
Aug. 27, 2002
New York, NY - University of Tulsa senior offensive center Anthony Taylor is one of 33 players named to the Rimington Trophy Watch List, it was announced today. The Rimington Trophy, established in 2000, is presented to the nation's top offensive center.
The award is named for Dave Rimington, college football's most decorated offensive center. Rimington won the Outland Trophy, the Lombardi Award and was a two-time consensus All-American while playing at Nebraska in the early 1980s.
Taylor has started 21 straight contests for the Golden Hurricane since his first collegiate start as a sophomore in the third game of the 2000 season. He is a former walk-on from Tulsa's Booker T. Washington High School, and received a scholarship just prior to the 2000 season.
The first two winners of the award were Nebraska's Dominic Raiola in 2000 and Ohio State's LeCharles Bentley last year.
