POSITION BREAKDOWN: QUARTERBACKS
Aug. 28, 2012
Tulsa, Oklahoma - After three years, quarterback G.J Kinne, who transferred from the University of Texas, left Tulsa ranked second on the school's all-time list for passing yards, total offensive yardage and passing TDs.
Now, another transfer takes over the reins at quarterback for the Hurricane as Nebraska transfer Cody Green will call the signals in 2012.
Green compiled a 4-0 record as a starter at Nebraska with two wins in 2009 and two victories in 2010. He completed 54-percent of his passes for 657 yards and five touchdowns, while playing in 18 career games for the Cornhuskers
"I feel like Cody has really elevated his game. He's starting to really look like and act like a starter in terms of how he practices," said Head Coach Bill Blankenship. "Kalen is just really good. We have a good, solid back-up that we wouldn't worry about."
Henderson's most extensive action came against #7-ranked Oklahoma State last year when he came in for an injured Kinne. Henderson completed six passes for 104 yards and two touchdowns against the Cowboys in three quarters of play.
"As I've said since last spring, I would not be afraid of taking either one of those guys, Joseph and Dane, and say that's who is playing against Iowa State in the season opener. This is a position that hopefully we can keep the depth and that they keep pushing themselves," added Blankenship.
