TULSA SWEEPS C-USA FOOTBALL WEEKLY AWARDS

IRVING, Texas - The University of Tulsa picked up all three player of the week accolades for football as awarded by Conference USA, it was announced today. The trio of players each made significant plays in Tulsa's comeback victory over Colorado State on Saturday night. East Carolina was the last C-USA school to win all three awards in a week, earning the honors Sept. 15, 2008.
Tulsa scored 13 fourth quarter points and captured a 30-27 victory over the Colorado State Rams as the game clock expired Saturday.
Sophomore Michael Mudoh (Richmond, Texas) was named the Defensive Player of the Week after collecting a team-high eight tackles Saturday night, as all eight stops were unassisted. He also had his first career interception for a seven-yard return, which led to a 33-yard scoring drive for Tulsa and a 14-7 lead in the first quarter. Two of Mudoh's tackles came on Colorado State's last two possessions of the game, helping force a 3-and-out each time. He also added one pass break-up.
Place-kicker Carl Salazar (Broken Arrow, Okla.) connected on the game-winning field goal against Colorado State as time expired. The 34-yard field goal was his third of the night, as the junior went 3-of-3 and totaled 12 points. With Tulsa trailing 20-14 at halftime, Salazar his a 31-yarder and a 23-yarder to bring Tulsa to within seven points, 27-20, with 13:12 remaining in the game, then knocked through the game-winner after three consecutive Colorado State called timeouts.
The Offensive Player of the Week, senior Trey Watts (Oakton, Va.) totaled 247 all-purpose yards, including a team-leading 152 yards rushing. His 45-yard run with under 30 seconds remaining in the game took Tulsa from their own 35-yard line to the Colorado State 20, and that run set up the winning 34-yard field goal with 0:00 on the game clock. Watts added a team-high eight receptions for 58 yards, returned five punts for 22 yards and had one kickoff return for 15 yards. He touched the ball a total of 36 times for the Golden Hurricane. He moved into 7th place on the school's career rushing chart with 2,346 career rushing yards.
Tulsa plays at Oklahoma on Saturday for an 11:00 am kickoff at Oklahoma Memorial Stadium. The game will be televised on ESPN2.
