University of Tulsa cornerback CJ Scott and placekicker Chris Earnest were named Western Athletic Conference Football Player of the Week, as announced by the league office today.

Scott was selected as the Defensive Player of the Week, while Earnest earned the Special Teams Player of the Week award.

Scott, a true freshman from Nashville, Tenn. (Glencliff High School), recorded 12 solo tackles in a 23-16 win at Rice. He also added three tackles for a loss of six yards and broke up a pass in just his second collegiate start. On the year, Scott has tallied 15 tackles.

Earnest, a junior from Houston, Texas (Second Baptist High School), hit all three of his field goal attempts in the victory at Rice. The field goal distances measured 32, 25 and 42 yards. He also made both PATs to total 11 points in the game and four of his six kickoffs were touchbacks.

On the season, Earnest ranks fifth nationally in field goals as he has converted all six of his attempts.
