IRVING, Texas - University of Tulsa defensive back Dexter McCoil was named the Conference USA Defensive Player of the Week in a vote of league media members, it was announced today by the C-USA office.

McCoil, a 6'4", 222-pound senior safety, played a huge role in Tulsa's 27-26 victory over non-conference foe Fresno State on Saturday night. The Bulldogs came into the game averaging 43 points and over 500 yards, but were limited to two offensive touchdowns and 364 total yards by the Hurricane defense.

McCoil was credited with 10 tackles, including eight solos and 1.5 stops for -2 yards, and two pass break-ups. He has totaled 25 tackles, two pass break-ups and one interception on the season.

The weekly honor is the first in McCoil's career and also the first this season for a Tulsa player.
