Oklahoma, Fresno State, Iowa State and Colorado State Highlight Future Home Schedules for Tulsa Football Team
Oct. 6, 2011
Tulsa, Oklahoma - The University of Tulsa announced today future football schedules for the next four years. The home schedule features Fresno State, Iowa State, Colorado State and Oklahoma over the next four years. "We're pleased with the schedule for the next four seasons. It's a good balance between BCS and non-BCS schools," said Tulsa's Director of Athletics Bubba Cunningham. In 2012, Tulsa will open the season against Iowa State of the Big 12 in Ames, Iowa on August 30th, followed by consecutive home games against Nicholls State (Sept. 15) and Fresno State (Sept. 22). The Hurricane will not close out the non-league slate until Nov. 3rd with a game east of the border against the SEC's Arkansas Razorbacks. Iowa State and Tulsa have only met once before on the football field, as the Cyclones captured a 27-6 victory at Tulsa's Skelly Stadium in 1961. Tulsa has never played Nicholls State before, while the Hurricane and the Fresno State Bulldogs last played in the 2005 Liberty Bowl with Tulsa claiming a 31-24 victory. Tulsa and Arkansas last met in 2008 as the Razorbacks gave the Hurricane its first loss in nine games that year by a score of 30-23. The Iowa State and Fresno State games are the first of a two-game series, while the contests against Nicholls State and Arkansas are for one season. The 2013 season has the Hurricane traveling to Ohio to face the Bowling Green Falcons in the return game from a contest in Tulsa in 2010. The two teams will play on August 30th, followed by a home game a week later against Colorado State (Sept. 7) in the first contest of a two-game series. Tulsa will then square off against two Big 12 schools, at Oklahoma (Sept. 14) and home against Iowa State (Sept. 21). Tulsa leads the Bowling Green series 3-0 and holds a 4-3 advantage against Colorado State. The last time those two teams played came in 1998. Tulsa will be visiting Bowling Green for the first time, as the Hurricane has won two home games and also captured a 63-7 victory in the GMAC Bowl following the 2007 campaign.
Tulsa will close out the series against two Mountain West Conference schools in 2014 at Fresno State (Aug. 30) and at Colorado State (Sept. 6). Tulsa opens the 2014 home schedule against North Texas on Sep. 13th before hosting the Oklahoma Sooners a week later on September 20th. In 2015, Tulsa will play at North Texas (Sept. 5), host Louisiana Monroe (Sept. 19) and play at Oklahoma (Sept. 26). The Hurricane has one more non-conference game to fill in the 2015 campaign. 2012 Aug. 30 at Iowa State Sept. 15 Nicholls State Sept. 22 Fresno State Nov. 3 at Arkansas |
