Tulsa, Oklahoma - University of Tulsa Head Football Coach Keith Burns confirmed today that quarterback Gary Brashears remains a member of the Golden Hurricane football program and is enrolled in classes.

Brashears has been granted a leave of absence from the football team this semester for personal reasons.

"Gary has some personal matters to attend to right now that are far more important than football," said Burns. "But, I want to emphasize that Gary is still a member of this football program."

Brashears, a former Parade Magazine Prep All-American as a senior at Clarksville (Ark.) High School, transferred to Tulsa from the University of Arkansas on August 21, 2000. He is required by NCAA rules to sit out this season. At Arkansas, Brashears saw playing time in just two games during his freshman campaign in 1999.
