Tulsa to Wear Throwbacks Jerseys, Helmets Saturday
Nov. 10, 2011
TULSA, Okla. - The University of Tulsa football team (6-3, 5-0) is set to wear throwback helmets and jerseys for Saturday's Conference USA clash with Marshall (4-5, 3-2) at 11 a.m. at H.A. Chapman Stadium. The Golden Hurricane will wear solid gold pants with throwback red jerseys that are a tribute to the 1950's. The helmets will be solid gold with a `T' on the front, which is a tribute to the 1940's when the team wore white helmets with a `T' on the front. The helmet on the right of the picture was worn by TU in 1942. The red jerseys debuted in 2008 and have been worn every year since. Saturday's game will mark the debut of this particular helmet design. Fans attending the game can bring an unwrapped toy valued at $15 or more and receive free admission to the Tulsa-Marshall football game. The U.S. Marines will be collecting the toys at the gates for those children in need at Christmas-time. The Marines will provide those bringing a toy with a game ticket coupon.
