Tulsa's David Johnson Named C-USA Offensive MVP By Sporting News Magazine

St. Louis, Mo. - This week, Sporting News magazine will announce its college football award winners and today revealed its selections for SN's conference award winners.
Tulsa quarterback David Johnson was named Sporting News' Offensive MVP for Conference USA. Johnson led Tulsa to a 10-3 record and the school's third West Division title in the last four years.
Johnson led the nation in passing efficiency for all but one week during the season and ended the regular season with a rating of 179.64. He completed 243- of-375 passes for 3,866 yards and 43 touchdowns.
The senior from Portland, Oregon, ended the regular season second nationally in passing efficiency, fifth in points responsible for and total passing yards, eight for passing yards per game and 10th in total offense.
Johnson, in his first season as the starter, had three games in which he threw for over 400 yards and two contests when he passed for six touchdowns. He had a career-best 469 yards and six TD passes against New Mexico, and threw for 418 yards and six touchdowns against North Texas. He also had 434 yards and five TD passes in a 77-35 win over UTEP.
